The Hubert H. Humphrey Metrodome, the Minnesota Vikings' home from 1982 to 2013, was situated on Chicago Avenue in downtown Minneapolis -- the same spot where U.S. Bank Stadium, the Vikings' new home, will open this summer.
Now, though, the Vikings say they want the road renamed.
The team has applied with Minneapolis' City Planning Commission to have a three-block stretch of Chicago Avenue renamed Vikings Way in front of the stadium, saying they "strongly object to having the street running in front of the stadium named after one of its opponents and neighboring rival.
