MANKATO, Minn. -- The Vikings started practice early on Thursday. If you ask Mike Zimmer, they never really showed up.
Practice was moved up to 9 a.m. for the final day of training camp at Minnesota State Mankato. About a half hour into it, the Vikings coach stopped everything and ordered his players to run to a far goalpost and back.
Linebacker Chad Greenway, a 10-year NFL veteran, was asked if he remembered the last time he had to run a lap during practice?
"High school," said Greenway, looking back to his days playing nine-man football in South Dakota some 15 years ago.
