The Vikings chose Ole Miss receiver Laquon Treadwell with the 23rd pick in the NFL draft on Thursday night.
Treadwell, 20, had 82 catches for 1,153 yards last year as a junior, including three touchdowns against Oklahoma State in a Sugar Bowl victory.
He suffered a broken leg as a sophomore, ending his season prematurely.
Washington took TCU wideout Josh Doctson with the pick just before the Vikings.
Treadwell is the fourth wide receiver the Vikings have drafted in the first round since dealing Randy Moss to the Oakland Raiders in 2005. Troy Williamson and Percy Harvin never became go-to receivers and Cordarrelle Patterson, a 2013 first-round pick, has 863 receiving yards in three seasons.
