Vikings coach Mike Zimmer each week names a special-teams player to serve as one of five game captains. Considering how well that unit has played, selecting just one player can be difficult.
Minnesota's special teams have had a banner season. They have been pivotal in victories the past two games.
The Vikings on Sunday defeated St. Louis 21-18 after Marcus Sherels returned an overtime punt 26 yards to help put Blair Walsh in position for a winning 40-yard field goal. That followed a 23-20 win at Chicago on Nov. 1, in which Sherels had a 65-yard punt return for a touchdown and Walsh kicked three field goals, including a 36-yard winner on the final play.
