MINNEAPOLIS -- With Audie Cole headed to injured reserve after fracturing his left ankle on Sunday against the St. Louis Rams, the Minnesota Vikings needed some linebacker depth. They found some in the form of a veteran who's played for defensive coordinator George Edwards.
The Vikings signed former Miami Dolphins linebacker Jason Trusnik on Tuesday, bringing in a 31-year-old who'd been with the Dolphins from 2011-14 and was released by the Carolina Panthers during final roster cuts in September. Edwards was the Dolphins' linebackers coach in 2012 and 2013, working under defensive coordinator Kevin Coyle -- a disciple of Vikings coach Mike Zimmer from their time together in Cincinnati.
