Vikings report: With Mike Zimmer out, Norv Turner runs camp

MANKATO, Minn. -- Tuesday was nothing new for Vikings offensive coordinator Norv Turner, who has 15 years of experience as an NFL head coach.

With Minnesota coach Mike Zimmer in Naples, Fla., to visit his ailing father, Turner ran training camp. The Vikings have Wednesday off, and Zimmer is expected to rejoin the team in time for a Thursday morning workout.

Turner led the Vikings through a morning walkthrough, then quipped they "got through with no injuries." He then was scheduled to preside over a night practice at Minnesota State Mankato's Blakeslee Stadium.

"We're rolling pretty good, and Coach Zimmer's getting this team like he tells you, the way he wants it, and he's creating an atmosphere for these guys to really work hard and compete every day -- and they're doing that," Turner said before the evening workout.
