MINNEAPOLIS -- The Minnesota Vikings placed cornerback Mackensie Alexander on injured reserve Friday morning, ending the second-round pick's rookie season with an abdomen injury, and signed running back C.J. Ham from their practice squad.
Alexander, whom the Vikings took with the 54th overall pick last spring, was active for 13 games this season, but only played 64 defensive snaps. Of the 57 players taken in the first two rounds of the draft who have played in a game this season, only two have seen less playing time than Alexander, according to ESPN Stats & Information.
