Vikings promote Willie Beavers to active roster

EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn. -- The Minnesota Vikings added some offensive line help, bringing fourth-round pick Willie Beavers back up to the 53-man roster from the practice squad.

Beavers took the spot vacated by Adrian Peterson when the Vikings put him on injured reserve last week. The Vikings also released cornerback Julian Wilson from the practice squad, bringing back wide receiver Isaac Fruechte and tackle Sean Hickey.

After the Vikings selected Beavers out of Western Michigan, the 22-year-old struggled during training camp, and became the highest-drafted rookie released by the Vikings since Rick Spielman joined the team in 2007.
