EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn. — The Vikings on Tuesday announced the signing of Toby Johnson to the 53-man roster and the placement of Tom Johnson on injured reserve.
Tom Johnson suffered a torn hamstring on Sunday against the Colts, the team he originally entered the NFL with as a rookie free agent in 2006.
Tom Johnson played 14 games this season, rotating on the interior of the defensive line and totaled 26 tackles (16 solo) as well as 2.0 sacks, six tackles for loss and 48 quarterback hurries tallied by Vikings coaches. He also made the first interception of his career, becoming the 11th Vikings defensive tackle to ever record a pick and the first since Kevin Williams in 2013, in Minnesota’s win at Carolina.
