Vikings pay nearly $18.7 million for Eagan site

The Minnesota Vikings paid $18.66 million for the expansive former Northwest Airlines property in Eagan, where the team hopes to build a headquarters, a practice facility and a mix of retail and housing.

The sale price was made public Thursday through a certificate of real estate value filed with the Minnesota Department of Revenue.

On Tuesday, the team closed the deal on the 185-acre site with Opportunity Partners Fund IV, an investment fund affiliated with the Excelsior Group, a St. Louis Park real estate firm that acquired the property from Delta Air Lines in June for $10.
