MINNEAPOLIS -- Days after losing strength and conditioning coach Brent Salazar to the U.S. Tennis Association, the Minnesota Vikings already have his replacement.
The Vikings announced Friday they've hired Mark Uyeyama, formerly of the San Francisco 49ers, to succeed Salazar and become the third strength and conditioning coach in Mike Zimmer's four years with the team. Uyeyama had been with the 49ers from 2008-16, serving as their head strength and conditioning coach from 2011-14 and being promoted to director of human performance in 2014. He'd worked with both Vikings offensive line coach Tony Sparano and left guard Alex Boone during his time with the 49ers, and he helped a team that went to Super Bowl XLVII form its identity behind a forceful offensive line and rock-ribbed defense.
