Vikings: Marcus Sherels' punt return TD was highlight until final minutes

CHICAGO -- Lost but certainly not forgotten amid the Vikings' fierce fourth-quarter comeback Sunday was Marcus Sherels' 65-yard punt return for a touchdown.

For 58 minutes it was Minnesota's only touchdown, and its easiest.

Sherels fielded Pat O'Donnell's punt in Vikings territory late in the first quarter, cut to his right and raced untouched behind a wall of blockers.

"It was fun," he said. "We were talking all week we were due for a big one."

Sherels, who entered the game averaging just 8.7 yard per return -- well below his career average -- scored for the first time since Oct.
