It didn't take long for defensive tackle Kenrick Ellis to feel welcome after joining the Vikings. Defensive end Danielle Hunter, a fellow Jamaican, approached him and suggested a good local Caribbean restaurant.
"He's from a different part of the island, but it's always good to have somebody who shares the same culture," Ellis said.
Ellis was signed Tuesday to replace defensive tackle Shamar Stephen and took part in his first practice on Wednesday. Stephen was placed on season-ending injured reserve after suffering a foot injury last Sunday against Kansas City.
He was glad to run into a countryman in Hunter.
