Vikings, Justin Jefferson start fast, knock off Packers in season opener

In his first game as Vikings head coach, Kevin O'Connell put the ball in the hands of his best player and rode Justin Jefferson to a 23-7 win over the Packers on Sunday at U.S. Bank Stadium.

Jefferson had a career-high 184 receiving yards, including a franchise-record 168 in the first half, on nine catches and scored the Vikings' two touchdowns.

Greg Joseph added three field goals for the Vikings, including a 56-yarder. Kirk Cousins was 23 of 32 for 277 yards and no interceptions while Dalvin Cook rushed for 90 yards on 20 carries.

Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers struggled to find a rhythm with a different group of receivers and with the Vikings' pass rush bearing down on him repeatedly.
