The Minnesota Vikings' ambitious plan for redeveloping nearly 200 acres in northeast Eagan cleared its first hurdle this week.
The city's advisory planning commission on Monday unanimously recommended to the city council approval of the team's request for an amendment to the city's comprehensive guide plan. The amendment would change the land-use designation for approximately 194 acres located south of Interstate 494 and east of Dodd Road from major office to mixed use.
The city council will consider Oct. 6 whether to direct city staff to submit the amendment to the Metropolitan Council for approval.
The NFL team has unveiled plans that include retail, a hotel, a small stadium and multi-family housing that would be anchored by the team's new headquarters and practice facility.
