Since getting out of UCLA in 2012, Mike Harris has been undrafted, waived and mostly has played on minimum salaries. Soon, though, it should all pay off.
Harris, the Vikings' starting right guard, could be the team's most important free agent this offseason. Come March, he wants to sign a multi-year deal to stay in Minnesota.
"That's the hope,'' Harris said. "It'd be wonderful. It'd be a dream come true. ... If something like that were to happen, it would be awesome.''
Entering Sunday night's regular-season finale at Green Bay, the Vikings are assured of a playoff berth, so nobody immediately will be saying goodbye.
