The Vikings released former University of Minnesota safety Brock Vereen from the practice squad Friday to make room for tight end Chase Ford.
Ford's agent, Vince Taylor, had told the Pioneer Press on Thursday that Ford would be added to the practice squad after being released Wednesday by the Vikings.
Vereen, a fourth-round draft pick by Chicago in 2014, was released by the Bears on Sept. 29 and signed to Minnesota's practice squad on Oct. 1.
Ford cleared waivers Thursday and immediately agreed to return to the Vikings. He caught 23 passes for 258 yards last year, but did not play in any of Minnesota's first eight games this season as the fourth-string tight end.
