Vikings Cut QB Kafka, Leaving Heinicke As 3rd-String Option

EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn. (WCCO) — The Minnesota Vikings announced Tuesday they’ve waived quarterback Mike Kafka, trimming the team’s roster to 75 before the afternoon deadline.

Kafka was entering his fifth NFL season after being a college quarterback at Northwestern. On Monday, they placed offensive lineman Carter Bykowski on injured reserve and put cornerback Josh Robinson on the physically unable to perform list.

Robinson won’t be eligible to return to the active roster until the day after the Vikings’ Week 6 game against the Kansas City Chiefs.

Kafka saw limited action in three preseason games for the Vikings.
