MANKATO, Minn. -- Wide receiver Cordarrelle Patterson is an enigma the Vikings hope to solve for their offense, however the talented playmaker remains a special-teams asset.
Patterson's kick return production waned in 2014, but so did opportunity as kickers avoided him by blasting touchbacks or chipping the ball to Minnesota's upbacks.
"I don't blame teams for not kicking to him," special teams coordinator Mike Priefer said. "I'm not sure if I'd kick to him if I was on the other sideline."
Frustration mounted at times to the point that Patterson was distracted and not fully prepared for returns that were available.
