Last week, the Vikings made the decision to release veteran RB Myles Gaskin.
The release came with a caveat that they would bring him back to the 53-man roster following Week 1. This was to avoid the RB’s contract becoming fully guaranteed for the season.
Ben Goessling of The Star Tribune explained the move, “The #Vikings released Myles Gaskin today, but the move is procedural. He’s expected to be back on the practice squad tomorrow, and elevated to the active roster on Sunday.” Goessling goes on: “Veterans on the active roster for Week 1 have their salaries guaranteed for the season, so releasing Gaskin is likely to avoid the guarantee.
