The Vikings on Saturday blocked running backs coach Kirby Wilson from taking a position as the Cleveland Browns' running game coordinator.
A source close to the situation had told the Pioneer Press on Friday, "Kirby is under contract. Period.'' Wilson was informed Saturday he could not take the position under new Browns coach Hue Jackson because he remains under contract.
"He's disappointed, but he's not going to jump up and down hooting and hollering,'' said John Wooten, chairman of the Fritz Pollard Alliance, which works with the NFL on minority hiring.
Wooten said the Vikings were within the rules to bar Wilson from going to Cleveland.
