Vikings kicker Blair Walsh needed some cheering up, and he got it from a group of first-graders at Northpoint Elementary School in Blaine.
Walsh missed a 27-yard field goal in the waning seconds of a devastating, 10-9 playoff loss to Seattle at TCF Bank Stadium last Sunday. He was prepared to fly home to his home in Southern California on Thursday until about 90 first-graders sent him letters to cheer him up.
Walsh pushed back his flight so he could visit the youngsters at school.
"This is really important," Walsh said. "These kids, they don't know anything about me; they just know I'm a Vikings player.
