Austin Wentworth was prepared to enter the Vikings' spring workouts ready to compete for the starting job at left guard. That all changed March 11.
Shortly before leaving for Minnesota, Wentworth was in his hometown of Sacramento, Calif., preparing with his fiancee for their April wedding. When he returned to his house, he felt a strange sensation.
"I came home and my legs went completely numb," Wentworth said in a telephone interview Wednesday with the Pioneer Press. "It was all within 15 minutes. My legs starting tingling and went completely numb, and I couldn't walk."
Wentworth was rushed to the hospital, where doctors said he had tissue clots in his legs that were blocking the blood flow.
