GREEN BAY, Wis. -- Vikings running back Adrian Peterson, 30, on Sunday became the second-oldest player to win the NFL rushing title.
Peterson entered a night game against the Green Bay Packers at Lambeau Field with 1,418 yards and a 16-yard lead over Tampa Bay's Doug Martin, who had failed to catch Peterson earlier in the day. Martin, who had trailed Peterson by 64 yards entering the final game of the season, managed just 48 yards on 15 carries in a Sunday afternoon game at Carolina to finish the season with 1,402 yards.
The only player older than Peterson to win a rushing title was Curtis Martin, who was 31 when he played for the New York Jets in 2004.
