Vikings running back Adrian Peterson enhanced his chances Sunday night of winning a third NFL rushing title.
By gaining 104 yards on 22 carries in a 49-17 victory over the New York Giants at TCF Bank Stadium, Peterson has 1,418 yards on the season. He widened his lead over Tampa Bay's Doug Martin, who had 49 yards on 17 carries earlier in the day against Chicago to give him 1,354 for the season.
The Vikings close the season next Sunday night at Green Bay while Tampa Bay will play earlier in the day at Carolina. Peterson will know entering his game how many yards he might need to clinch the crown.
