Vikings add Chase Ford to practice squad, agent says

Tight end Chase Ford, released by the Vikings on Wednesday, will join the team's practice squad, his agent said Thursday.

Ford, a four-year veteran, was let go when the Vikings activated cornerback Josh Robinson off the physically unable to perform list. Ford cleared waivers Thursday.

"He's happy," said Ford's agent, Vince Taylor. "He thinks they've got something special going there."

Ford caught 23 passes for 258 yards in 11 games and five starts last season. However, rookie MyCole Pruitt's arrival dropped Ford to No. 4 on the depth chart this season behind starter Kyle Rudolph and backup Rhett Ellison.
