The first people to sit in the purple seats of U.S. Bank Stadium were a handful of Vikings season ticket holders and six area high school athletes.
The first of 64,000 seats were installed Monday in Section 224 of the Vikings' new downtown Minneapolis home, which is scheduled to open for the 2016 football season.
Two families who have had season tickets since 1962 and 1989 were invited to try them out Monday afternoon. Both families have seats in Section 224 of the billion-dollar stadium, according to the Minnesota Sports Facilities Authority.
Among the students selected were Jacques Lyles of the St.
