The competition for a spot in the Vikings linebacker corps just became a little less heated as the team Thursday bade farewell to recent free agent pick-up Travis Lewis.
The 28-year-old Lewis was signed earlier this year to a one-year deal worth $810,000 with $50,000 guaranteed and a $50,000 signing bonus. The Vikings save $650,000 in cap space by cutting Lewis.
Before signing with the Vikings, Lewis spent four years with Detroit where he appeared in a total of 42 games with four starts. Most of his starting action came in 2015 when he amassed ten tackles and a sack.
