When the Minnesota Vikings host the Las Vegas Raiders at U.S. Bank Stadium on Saturday afternoon, it won’t just be a collection of players that will be making their debuts.
The contest will also mark the first outing for the new playing surface at U.S. Bank Stadium. The team was one of three in the league last season with a “slit film” turf, the usage of which seems to correlate to a higher number of injuries. This year, the team has switched to a new monofilament turf.
I have no idea what in the heck any of that means, but if the early reviews are any indication, it’s a change for the positive.
