Defensive end Tashawn Bower was among the five players that the Minnesota Vikings placed on either the Physically Unable to Perform or Non-Football Injury lists on Friday. He was placed on the NFI list, and after the first practice of camp, head coach Mike Zimmer clarified why that was.
According to Zimmer, Bower tore his Achilles tendon while working out on his own, which was why he was placed on NFI and not PUP. (As we’ve detailed, PUP is for injuries that occur in the context of the game of football.)
Bower tore his Achilles while working out on his own, Zimmer said.
