Like most college football players, Tommy Armstrong had aspirations of making it to the NFL while playing quarterback at the University of Nebraska. Armstrong wanted to fulfill his dreams so bad that he even made a position switch from quarterback to safety in order to give himself a better chance.
Armstrong was invited by the Minnesota Vikings in May to tryout for the team during their rookie minicamp. He was not signed immediately, but the Vikings decided to add him to their roster as a safety a few weeks ago.
Following the conclusion of Minnesota’s minicamp this week, the team announced on Friday that Armstrong has been waived.
