JD Spielman, one of the sons of Vikings General Manager Rick Spielman, has been named Metro Football Player of the Year by the Star Tribune.
JD, who starred at running back for Eden Prairie and had more than 1,500 all-purpose yards totaled 25 touchdowns as a senior, has committed to play for Nebraska. A multi-threat running back in high school, JD anticipates playing receiver for the Cornhuskers.
“Special is probably the best word [to describe his play],” Eden Prairie coach Mike Grant told David La Vaque.
