Trying to stop future Hall of Fame quarterback Tom Brady without your top two cornerbacks is not exactly the smartest strategy in the world for an opposing defense. But that is basically what the Minnesota Vikings had to do last Sunday during their matchup against Brady and the New England Patriots.
Already having to limit the snaps of corner Xavier Rhodes due to a hamstring injury, the Vikings also lost their No. 2 cornerback in Trae Waynes when he had to leave the game in the second quarter with a concussion.
Thanks to the injuries to Rhodes and Waynes, Minnesota was forced to give more snaps to reserve defensive backs Holton Hill and Marcus Sherels and surprise, it didn’t turn out that well.
