The Minnesota Vikings traded away their star running back after half a dozen years with the organization. Dalvin Cook was the focal point of the offense for years, an offense that was built to run the football and to win the time of possession battles. It is debatable if the offense was built to win games in this era of football. However, Cook was an elite back in his prime, and the offense rightfully heavily featured him.
His backups only got a handful of meaningful snaps per game unless he was hurt, something that happened more often than fans would’ve liked but running back is arguably the most physically demanding position in the sport because the players are getting hit on every play.
