The flurry of moves from NFL teams to get down to 53 players on their active rosters on Tuesday was nearly matched by teams scrambling to fill their practice squads on Wednesday.
The Vikings were possibly the most active, adding 17 players to their practice squad:
If that seems like a lot, it’s because it is. The practice squad is limited to 16 players, with a 17th eligible if they qualify as an exempt international player — as is the case with Sammis Reyes.
But as someone who has followed football for quite a while, I’m still not used to players outside of their first few years being practice squad eligible.
