Chicago Bears ex-head coach Mike Ditka used to dread bringing his squad to the now demolished Hubert H. Humphrey Metrodome. Sarcastically referring to it as “Rollerdome”, comparing it to a giant livestock hall, accusations of artificially pumped in crowd noise, veteran fans of the Minnesota Vikings have heard it all. A friend once likened the outside shape of the dome to an enormous pot pie, fair enough, but it was home-field for a number of the state’s beloved sports teams for decades. So many memories, but the Metrodome was ready for deflation.
TCF Bank Stadium became the Vikings temporary home for two seasons.
