MINNEAPOLIS -- The Minnesota Vikings are forfeiting their seventh-round pick in April's NFL draft due to a salary cap violation, the NFL confirmed on Friday.
League spokesman Brian McCarthy said the violation stemmed from a mistake made with the contract of a 2019 practice squad player. Additionally, three team executives were each fined $10,000, according to the NFL.
"A mistake was made, we take responsibility and we respect the league's decision and will move forward," general manager Rick Spielman said in a statement released by the team on Friday.
The pick the Vikings lost was the 242nd overall selection.
