MINNEAPOLIS -- The Minnesota Vikings didn't trade a first-round pick and a conditional 2018 fourth-rounder to the Philadelphia Eagles so Sam Bradford could be their backup quarterback. That said, they made the smart play in starting Shaun Hill against the Tennessee Titans, going with the quarterback who possessed a full understanding of their system instead of the one who had been with the team for eight days.
And Hill played well enough Sunday that a coach interested in concealing his starting quarterback decision for another week -- say, before a nationally-televised home opener against the team his club dethroned in the NFC North last year -- could obtain sufficient cover to do so.
