The sweepstakes for Kirk Cousins is on as the Kansas City Chiefs traded quarterback Alex Smith to the Washington Redskins in exchange for a third-round pick and promising young cornerback Kendall Fuller.
With this news that can’t yet be made official until the start of the new league year, Kirk Cousins will become an unrestricted free agent after being franchise tagged the last two seasons.
The Minnesota Vikings should consider Cousins (along with Drew Brees and Teddy Bridgewater) on the wish list of quarterback options to pursue this offseason and with Brees likely re-signing with New Orleans, Cousins may be the best option and fit for the Vikings moving forward starting in 2018.
