Inside the Minnesota Vikings' war room -- between a constant murmur of phone calls, deliberations, and strategic zigging and zagging through the board as picks come flying off -- Rick Spielman is at the center of orchestrating every move the team makes during the NFL draft.
For the last six years, careful planning by Spielman and the front office has led to a flurry of draft-day trades (29, to be exact) which has allowed the Vikings to strike when the value for their ensuing pick is at its best.
Building a roster through the draft has been Spielman's mantra since he arrived in Minnesota 12 years ago.
