The controversy surrounding Drew Pearson in the Hail Mary game has become legendary, but a former Vikings defensive lineman alleges there was another non-call on the decisive play that was just as important.
On Dec. 28, 1975, 40 years ago Monday, the Dallas Cowboys beat Minnesota 17-14 in the playoffs when Roger Staubach uncorked a 50-yard touchdown pass to Pearson with 24 seconds remaining at Metropolitan Stadium. The Vikings have contended for years that Pearson should have been called for pass interference for pushing cornerback Nate Wright
Mark Mullaney, who played for Minnesota from 1975-86, said that would have been a moot point had holding been called on the play.
