Former Vikings QB Tarvaris Jackson claims he's broke, requests public defender

Former Vikings quarterback Tarvaris Jackson said he's broke and can’t afford a lawyer to defend himself against assault charges stemming from an incident last Friday when he allegedly pulled a gun on a woman.

In court documents obtained by TMZ Sports, Jackson requested a public defender, but the judge overseeing the case denied the request. Jackson made $1.5 million as Seattle’s back-up quarterback last season and has reportedly made north of $12 million throughout his nine seasons in the NFL.

Jackson was charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and could face prison time if convicted.
