MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) — Former Minnesota Vikings defensive end Jared Allen announced his retirement in a truly Jared Allen-esque way Thursday: by riding off “into the sunset” on his horse.
In a Twitter video posted Thursday morning, Allen thanks everyone for an amazing 12-year career, and acknowledges his plans to ride off into the sunset didn’t quite go as planned.
“This was the part where I was going to ride off into the sunset, but seeing how there’s no sunset, I’m just gonna ride off,” Allen said.
And with a wave, he was off.
After being traded from the Kansas City Chiefs, Allen played with the Vikings from 2008 to 2013.
