MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – The first operable door was delivered to the new Vikings stadium Friday morning.
The Minnesota Sports Facilities Authority said that the largest of the stadium’s five operable doors was delivered at 7 a.m.
The door is 93 feet tall and weighs 57,000 pounds. It was delivered in two sections.
The doors, designed by HKS, are on the west side of the stadium and provide a view of downtown Minneapolis.
“The operable doors are one of the most interesting architectural aspects of the new stadium. There is nothing like it in the world,” Michele Kelm-Helgen, chair of the MSFA, said in a recent press release.
