Charley Walters: Vikings' fleet Mike Wallace shows toughness, too

Mike Wallace, the new Minnesota Viking, is the fastest wide receiver George Stewart has coached in 27 years in the National Football League.

"Without a doubt," Stewart said the other day. "He's always been fast. When Mike came out of the womb, he was probably fast -- he probably was a month early when he was delivered."

How fast is Wallace?

"Extremely fast," said Stewart, the Vikings' receivers coach. "I can't put a number on it, but he was blessed with a gear a lot of people weren't blessed with."

Wallace, 6 feet, 205 pounds, is tough, too, Stewart said.
