Blair Walsh is a 6-handicap golfer who knows if you hit a ball just a bit off center of the clubface, it can turn into a bad shot. The Vikings kicker, who missed a big 44-yard field-goal attempt in last week's season-opening loss to San Francisco, likens kicking to swinging a golf club.
"Very similar," Walsh said.
Walsh, owner of a $14 million, four-year contract ($5.25 million guaranteed), missed the sweet spot on six field-goal tries during the Vikings' exhibition season. He said the new deal hasn't affected his kicking.
"It's nothing to do with the contract," he said.
