It was sad to see Pat Shurmur leave the Minnesota Vikings this year to take a head coaching job with the New York Giants. Shurmur’s first and only season as the Vikings’ full-time offensive coordinator was an impressive one as he still found ways for the team to succeed even without their first string quarterback or running back for most of the year.
In his place, Minnesota has brought in former Philadelphia Eagles quarterbacks coach John DeFilippo. With the help of DeFilippo’s guidance for the past two seasons, Eagles signal caller Carson Wentz was able to evolve from a struggling rookie in 2016 to an MVP-level quarterback in 2017.
