The Vikings won the opening coin toss and, in a rare move, chose not to defer to the second half and instead elected to receive. On the first play from scrimmage, Kirk Cousins threw his eighth interception of the year, as he was picked off by Deion Jones on a pass intended for Justin Jefferson, giving the Falcons the ball near the Minnesota 30-yard line.
