The 1987 Vikings season was one of ups and downs and ups and downs.

A 2-0 start, a strike that led to replacement players for three games, a fiery return and a late-season stumble.

The important part was that Minnesota had a chance by being the fifth and final team to make the NFC Playoffs.

Few expected the Vikings to win a Wild Card game at New Orleans on Jan. 3, 1988, and even fewer tabbed Minnesota to defeat San Francisco in the Divisional round on Jan.
