The Vikings could have a new punter by the end of the day.
According to sources familiar with the situation, the team is trying to sign former Browns punter Britton Colquitt, who was released by Cleveland over the weekend.
The Vikings opted to release kicker/punter Kaare Vedvik — whom they'd acquired in an Aug. 11 trade with the Ravens — in final cuts on Saturday, and had hoped to get Vedvik onto their practice squad before the Jets claimed him off waivers. The move means Matt Wile, the team's punter from last season, could be on the way out.
